The beginning of how our co-founders started our parent company Metabolomycs!
Metabolomycs, Inc. is a Southern California-based biotechnology company that has pioneered the clinical application of next-generation metabolomics for the study of human disease.
By the way, our field is metabolomics but our corporate name is spelled slightly different, Metabolomycs. Why? Because our founders wanted to highlight the "MYC" superfamily of genes that are critically important in the regulation of our human metabolism.
Back to Our Story...
In 1998, our company founders who have decades of cancer research entered the exciting field of metabolomics by looking at metabolites of cancer patients and healthy patients. They found patterns that clearly identified if someone had a particular cancer and, more importantly, if they were on the path to getting that particular cancer.
The cancers they studied were:
- Pancreatic
- Ovarian
- Breast
They added an award-winning researcher from Brazil to their international team and performed clinical trials here in the US and Brazil, patented their work, and studied other diseases and metabolic irregularities.
Through their research they found how to analyze a person's metabolites which can then be used to diagnose current and future health problems.
And Metabolomycs was born!
